Instrumented Sensor Technology

Company Overview

Instrumented Sensor Technology, Inc. has developed a full line of shock and vibration data recorder products that cover a broad range of testing and monitoring applications. The company was founded in 1987 to design, develop, and manufacture digital data recording technology for dynamic measurements. such as acceleration data loggers, triaxial accelerometer loggers, transportation data recorders, as well Today our Okemos, Michigan based company employs a staff of around 10 engineers and technicians. Our company has developed a sophisticated family of user-interface software modules for recorder setup, data download, and engineering analysis. We have shipped thousands of recorder systems to customers worldwide. Our company enjoys a solid reputation for delivering high-quality recorders and monitoring products on time, and for providing solid technical support and service. Most of our recorder products feature built-in accelerometers for completely self-contained operation. In addition several triaxial accelerometer models offer the ability to connect external voltage mode piezoelectric transducers for added flexibility. What makes IST acceleration data loggers and recorders unique is their relatively small size and weight, long battery life, broad temperature range and ability to handle external PE accelerometers. As a result the compact IST instruments can be placed into an environment for an extended period of time and collect large amounts of data in an inhospitable environment.

IST serves an extremely broad range of application markets covering:

  • Transportation and Handling Measurements
  • Packaging and Package Testing
  • Crash Testing
  • Military Flight Vibration Testing
  • Marine Watercraft Measurements
  • Accident Reconstruction
  • Parachute Testing
  • Aerospace and Defense Hardware Transport
  • And More

EDR-3C & 3D SERIES SHOCK & VIBRATION WAVEFORM RECORDERS

EDR-3C & 3D SERIES SHOCK & VIBRATION WAVEFORM RECORDERS

The EDR-3C is a portable impact, shock and vibration full waveform recorder and has a built-in triaxial accelerometer that’s designed to measure shock, vibration, temperature and (as an option) humidity, pressure, or resistance-bridge devices. The programmable unit tags all acceleration events with a time and date to provide a time history of the dynamic environment experienced during a recording session.

Advanced triggering schemes allows the user to select from threshold (event amplitude based), time-interval, time-delayed, time-at-level, external input, manual, and networked (multi-unit-connected) triggering. This flexibility enables the instrument to be configured for a wide variety of dynamic recording applications.

HIRTS-1 HIGH-G HELMET IMPACT RECORDER

The HIRTS-1 is a compact, self-contained recording device which measures and records shock and impact to helmets or other space constrained fixtures. The device is planted or installed to an inside surface of the helmet. The device contains three accelerometer sensors which accurately measure the accelerations (forces) during helmet impacts, in 3-directions. Therefore the device can measure and record impacts from any direction, and at any time. During an impact event the device measures and records the peak, or maximum, acceleration (force) of the event, in each of three axes (x, y, and z) along with the exact date and time of occurrence. In addition, the device measures and records the “change in velocity” (proportional to energy) associated with the impact acceleration event in each of three axes (x, y, and z).
